Local Government: Audit Commission

Volume 691: debated on Wednesday 9 May 2007

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many local authorities have been inspected by the Audit Commission in England during the past five years to date. [HL3392]

Under the comprehensive performance assessment introduced in 2002, the Audit Commission is required to carry out an assessment of all local authorities. The specifics of these assessments are an operational matter for the Audit Commission, and I have asked the chief executive to respond in writing. The chief executive replied on 8 May. A copy of the letter has been placed in the Library.
