Pollution

Volume 692: debated on Monday 14 May 2007

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether there is a threat of any groundwater pollution as a result of the recent fuel spillage at RAF Mildenhall; and whether clean-up costs will be met by the Government of the United States. [HL3531]

The threat of pollution to groundwater in the local area has been assessed as low. The situation is being closely monitored in conjunction with the Environment Agency to ensure that there is no impact to the public and private water supplies.

The cost of the clean-up will be met by the US authorities.
