asked Her Majesty's Government:
How many prosecutions, by calendar year, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency has been a party to against manufacturers and suppliers of vehicle registration marks that have been in breach of the Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001. [HL4069]
Until 16 March 2007, the DVLA did not have legal powers to bring proceedings under Part 2 of the Vehicles (Crime) Act. This function was limited to police and certain trading standards officers. The courts are not obliged to pass all details of convictions to the DVLA so the total number of prosecutions by calendar year is not known.
