Coast

Volume 698: debated on Tuesday 22 January 2008

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they will announce the results of the consultation on coastal access. [HL1339]

A summary of responses to the consultation on Proposals to Improve Access to the English Coast has been published and is available on the Defra website. Following analysis of the consultation responses, the Government have announced their intention to introduce new legislation so that the public will have the right to walk around the English coast for the first time. We are now developing the detail of the legislation and will be seeking to identify an appropriate opportunity to bring forward coastal access legislation.
