Immigration

Volume 699: debated on Tuesday 11 March 2008

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What were the contents of the 2007 agreement between the United Kingdom and China to facilitate legal migration and combat illegal immigration. [HL2212]

A Written Ministerial Statement was placed before the House on 7 March 2007. It confirms that we have signed memoranda of understanding (MoU), and have arrangements for the return of failed asylum seekers and illegal migrants with many countries, including China. The content of the MoU is confidential for operational reasons.
