Schools: Milk

Volume 700: debated on Wednesday 23 April 2008

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What proportion of the United Kingdom school milk market is subsidised by the European Union. [HL2989]

The school milk subsidy scheme is made available to all children between the ages of five and 11 in primary and nursery schools in participating local authorities throughout the UK. In the 2006-07 school year there were 195 claimants; 189 of these were local education authorities, three were schools and the remaining three were private schemes.
