Disabled People: UN Convention

Volume 703: debated on Monday 21 July 2008

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Following the decision of the House of Lords in London Borough of Lewisham v Malcolm, whether they will introduce legislation to enable the United Kingdom to ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. [HL4649]

We are giving careful consideration to the implications of the recent decision of the House of Lords in the case of Lewisham v Malcolm. However, we do not consider that the decision should affect the UK's ability to ratify the UN convention.
