To ask Her Majesty's Government what proportion of public houses is currently owned by breweries; and what are the figures for the previous five years. [HL93]

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is aware from industry sources that there are just over 50,000 public houses in England and Wales. Unfortunately, we have no information about the proportion currently owned by breweries. This information is not required by the DCMS as it is outside the scope of licensing legislation.
