Regulatory Impact Assessments

Volume 706: debated on Monday 19 January 2009

Question

Asked by

To ask Her Majesty's Government further to the Written Answer by Lord Darzi of Denham on 9 June 2008 (WA 82), whether, under normal circumstances, regulatory impact assessments used in justification of Government action are monitored to gauge their accuracy; and, if so, where the results of such monitoring are published. [HL569]

The impact assessments process, introduced in November 2007, superseded regulatory impact assessments. The revised impact assessment process has increased the focus on post-implementation reviews.

The department is currently putting systems in place to respond to the 2008 White Paper Post-legislative Scrutiny: The Government's Approach.
