To ask Her Majesty's Government further to the answer by Lord Darzi of Denham on 17 December 2008 (Official Report, House of Lords, col. 171), whether they have sought the views of the Government of the Republic of Ireland as to their assessment of the impact of having increased the minimum size of cigarette packs on the uptake of smoking by young people. Regular dialogue takes place at official level about tobacco control matters between the department and the Department of Health and Children and the Office of Tobacco Control in the Republic of Ireland. Discussions have included cigarette pack size.
