To ask Her Majesty's Government whether the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence will produce guidance on the use of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) for Motor Neurone Disease without delay. [HL1429]

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has been asked by the department to develop a short clinical guideline on non-invasive ventilation for the treatment of motor neurone disease. NICE will schedule this topic onto its work programme at the earliest opportunity and currently expects to issue final guidance to the National Health Service in early 2011.
