To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the compatibility of the Ethiopian draft anti-terrorism proclamation with internationally protected human rights. [HL2190]

My noble friend Lord West, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Security and Counter-Terrorism at the Home Office, raised this issue during his visit to Ethiopia in December 2008.

We continue to engage with the Government of Ethiopia on the detail of their draft anti-terrorism legislation to encourage that it is compatible with international human rights norms.
