Civil Service: Performance Pay

Volume 710: debated on Thursday 7 May 2009

Asked by

To ask Her Majesty's Government further to the Written Answer by Lord Myners on 9 March (WA 197-98), what proportion of civil servants are eligible to receive non-consolidated performance payments; and how they are selected for those payments. [HL2089]

A close and effective link between pay and performance is a key element of the reward arrangements for the Civil Service. Under the delegated arrangements for staff outside the Senior Civil Service (SCS), eligibility criteria for such payments are determined by individual departments and agencies. Information on the reward arrangements for the SCS, which is managed centrally by the Cabinet Office, is available on the website.
