To ask Her Majesty's Government what discussions they have had with the authorities in southern Sudan, Kenya and Ethiopia about resolving the disputed borders of the Ilemi Triangle; and what assessment they have made of the chance of conflict in the area arising from competition for natural resources, the discovery of oil, and from inter-ethnic conflicts. No discussions have taken place with the authorities in southern Sudan, Kenya and Ethiopia about resolving the disputed borders of the Ilemi Triangle. No recent assessments have been made by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office about the chance of conflict in the area arising from competition for natural resources, the discovery of oil or from inter-ethnic conflicts.
