To ask Her Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the performance of those involved in the railway planning process, in the light of the travel disruption over the August bank holiday. [HL5420]

There has been no specific assessment. However, the Government have asked the industry to propose improvements in the process for planning rail engineering work to ensure that the interests of rail users are taken into full account and, in particular, to reduce the substitution of buses for rail passenger services during such work.
