To ask Her Majesty's Government further to the Written Answer by Lord Adonis on 21 July (WA 365), whether the A303 Wincanton bypass has been resurfaced with “low noise” surfacing; and, if not, whether it is intended that it will be. [HL5388]

The A303 Wincanton bypass has not been resurfaced with “low noise” surfacing. It was last resurfaced prior to 1998 using hot rolled asphalt. The bypass will be resurfaced with “low noise” surfacing materials when maintenance of the existing surface is due. As the surface remains in good condition, the A303 Wincanton bypass is not currently within a programme for maintenance resurfacing.
