To ask Her Majesty’s Government how many incidents of SA80 rifles jamming have been reported to junior officers in Afghanistan this year; and how many SA80 rifles have been withdrawn for maintenance or repair as a result of jamming. [HL5392]

Rifle jamming incidents are not recorded centrally and could only be provided at disproportionate cost.

No equipment failure reports have been submitted for SA80 rifles in Afghanistan during 2009.
