Question

Asked by

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will ask the Equality and Human Rights Commission to investigate the BBC in relation to the discharge of its public duty responsibilities under the Race Relations Act 1976 and the Equality Act 2006; and whether they will ask the commission to investigate the BBC under those Acts in respect of its decision to invite the British National Party to participate in Question Time on 22 October. [HL6016]

The Equality and Human Rights Commission operates at arm's length from Government and makes its own independent decisions as to whom it investigates and on what grounds.
