League Of Nations Meetings

asked the Prime Minister when and where it is proposed that the forthcoming meetings of the Council and Assembly of the League of Nations will be held?

The French Government and His Majesty's Government proposed to the Secretary-General of the League that the meetings of the Council and the Assembly should be postponed because in present circumstances it would be impossible for their delegations to reach Geneva. This suggestion, which was communicated to States Members of the Assembly and Council, has been accepted. No new date for the meetings has as yet been fixed, but there is no suggestion that, when practicable, these will not be held at Geneva.

War Commissions And Committees

asked the Prime Minister whether, for the convenience of Members of this House and others, he will either publish or place in the Library a complete list of all the committees, boards and commissions that have recently been set up to deal with different aspects of the War, including new branches of existing Ministries, stating in each case the names of the leading personnel?

I have been asked to reply. In many cases the desired information has been made public through the medium of the Press or otherwise. The compilation of a comprehensive statement would, however, involve considerable labour, and my right hon. Friend is loath to place such a burden on Government Departments at this juncture.

Blackout Traffic Restrictions

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will amend the regulations covering the respective duties of pedestrians and motorists at pedestrian crossings, in view of the impossibility of motorists fulfilling the obligations imposed upon them during hours of darkness?

:I fully recognise the difficulties both of drivers and pedestrians at night in present conditions. My right hon. Friend the Home Secretary and I have the whole question of facilitating movement at night under urgent consideration, and I hope it may be possible to make an announcement on the subject very shortly.

School Of Nazism, Berlin (British Visitors)

asked the Home Secretary whether he has any record of the young men who recently attended a summer school in Nazism in Berlin; and whether he will take precautions to see that these men have no opportunity of taking part in anti-democratic activities?

The hon. Member may be referring to a party of 17 young persons who went to Germany on the 30th July. This appears to have been an ordinary pleasure travel party, and, on the information at present available, my right hon. Friend has no reason to think that any action on his part is necessary.
