May I ask whether the Prime Minister has any statement to make about the Business for next week?

The Business will be:

Monday — Second Reading of the Finance (No. 2) Bill.

Tuesday — Immediately after Questions I shall make a Statement on the General Position on a Motion for the Adjournment of the House.

Wednesday and Thursday — Committee stage of the Finance Bill.

I will make a statement at the beginning of next week about the sitting of the House on Friday. If we find that it is possible to conclude the Committee stage of the Finance Bill on Thursday it will, I think, be unnecessary for the Government to ask the House to sit on Friday.

Can the Prime Minister say whether we shall have an early opportunity of considering the question of war risks insurance?

I cannot answer that question. No doubt it can be arranged through the usual channels.

Having regard to the fact that the Chancellor's statement yesterday showed that it was obvious that some parts of the Finance Bill will be intensely complicated, will my right hon. Friend reconsider his decision to give only one day for the Second Reading?
