Mr. E. Johnson
asked the Minister of Labour how many men aged 45 to 55, 55 to 65 and over 65, respectively, were employed, and how many unemployed, at the latest date; and how many women aged 40 to 50, 50 to 60 and over 60, respectively, were employed, and how many unemployed, at that date.

The latest dates for which age-analyses of the total numbers of employees and of unemployed persons are available are May, 1952, and December, 1952, respectively. The table below gives the figures that are available for those dates:
