To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) if he will make a statement regarding his Department's funding of the Scottish Chess Association;(2) what was his Department's total grant to the Scottish Chess Association in each of the last five years; and what he expects it to be in the current financial year.

In the special circumstances pertaining in the current year my right hon. and learned Friend has offered the association an additional grant of up to £4,300 towards the cost of sending competitors to the World Olympiad and the World Junior Championship.
