To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate he has made of the number of people aged (a) 18 years and over, (b) 60 years old and over and (c) 85 years and over who were diagnosed with a liver condition in (i) England and (ii) Yorkshire and the Humber Strategic Health Authority in each year since 1997. (298143)

Information on the number of people diagnosed with a liver condition is not collected centrally.

The Government are taking forward their commitment to tackling liver disease by recruiting a new National Clinical Director to lead the development of a National Strategy for Liver Disease.
