Funding Higher Education

The following is an extract from an intervention by the Minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, the hon. Member for East Surrey (Mr Gyimah), during the Westminster Hall debate on funding higher education on 28 February 2018.

I would like to give the hon. Gentleman that reassurance now. He is absolutely right: the widening participation funds—£1,000 out of every £9,000 paid by students in fees—go towards access.
