Counselling (Non-medical Staff)

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many qualified non-medical psychotherapy and counselling practitioners are employed by the NHS in England.

The last non-medical workforce census showed there were 1,087 qualified psychotherapy staff employed in the national health service in England as at 30 September 2005.

The workforce census does not separately identify the number of counselling practitioners.
