Alzheimer’s Disease 19:19:00 Mr. Richard Benyon (Newbury) (Con) I have pleasure in presenting a petition on behalf of 391 residents of west Berkshire who are either sufferers of Alzheimer’s disease or are carers of family members who are sufferers. The petition declares: Your Petitioners are outraged by the decision of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence to restrict NHS prescriptions for Alzheimer’s drugs. These treatments have been proven to provide real benefit to thousands of people at all stages of Alzheimer’s disease, and cost just £2.50 per day per person. Your Petitioners therefore request that the House of Commons do urge the Secretary of State for Health to ensure that doctors continue to be able to prescribe Alzheimer’s drug treatments to patients who can benefit from them. And your Petitioners remain, etc. To lie upon the Table.
