Doctors: Training

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what (a) estimate she has made of the impact on the number of doctors being trained and (b) assessment she has made of the impact on the training given to those who secure places on the Modernising Medical Careers programme.

We believe there will be more doctors in training in 2007 than previously. Training will be enhanced under Modernising Medical Careers as it will provide structured programmes of training to reflect the needs of patients and the national health service.
