Gillian Merron The Department for Transport collects statistics from local authority surveys of road conditions which are collated and published annually in the ‘National Road Maintenance Condition Survey’. Gillian Merron The two most recent National Road Maintenance Condition Surveys (NRMCS), published in April 2005 and April 2006, both showed that the deterioration in the condition of local authority highways during the 1990s had been halted, and that there had been a significant improvement in local road conditions since 2000.
