Submarines: Manpower Mr. Lancaster To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many members of the Royal Navy are currently serving on board a submarine, broken down by rank. Derek Twigg [holding answer 18 June 2007]: At 1 October 2006, the total number of naval personnel assigned to submarines was 2,450.
