To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what plans the Government have to increase the supply of affordable housing in places where the cost of housing is high in relation to average incomes. Yvette Cooper The Government’s response, published in 2005, to Kate Barker’s Review of Housing Supply set out an ambition to increase housing supply to 200,000 per annum by 2016. We are increasing provision of social rented housing to 30,000 homes in 2007-08 and have said that social housing will be a priority in the 2007 spending review. And we have plans to help 120,000 people into low cost home ownership in the five years to 2010. Lorely Burt 22.
