The Solicitor-General The records held by the CPS provide no information on the number of defendants charged or prosecuted for specific offences. However, the CPS does identify by act and section the number of offences which reached a first hearing in the magistrates courts. These records show that, as of November 2007, two offences under sections 2 and 4 of the Emergency Workers (Obstruction) Act 2006 had reached a first hearing; one was prosecuted by CPS West Mercia and the other by CPS Gloucestershire.
