Departmental Redundancies

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the cost was of redundancies in his Department in the 12 months preceding (a) 30 June 2004, (b) 30 June 2005 and (c) 30 June 2006.

As provided in the answer given by the then Financial Secretary (John Healey) on 2 March 2007, Official Report, column 1574W, the costs of early severance and early retirement for the Department during the financial years 2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06 are as follows.

Costs for the financial year 2005-06 have been restated to take account of programme early retirement costs, previously omitted in error. Reapportioned costs for 12-month periods, with a 30 June year-end, could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
