11. To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assessment he has made of the use of on-line filing of tax returns.

Online filing is secure, quicker and more accurate for the customer and HMRC benefits by having better quality data and reduced administration and processing costs.

By the beginning of January, just under 2 million self assessment returns had been filed online, an increase of 26 per cent. on the same point last year.
