Gough Island: Biodiversity

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans the Government have to support biodiversity conservation on Gough Island over the next five years.

The Government do not have specific plans to support biodiversity conservation on Gough Island over the next five years. The Overseas Territories Environment Programme, a joint Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Department for International Development funded programme, has funded biodiversity projects on Gough Island in the past. These included a feasibility study into mice eradication and the eradication of Procumbent Pearlwort, an invasive plant. We will continue to consider future biodiversity project proposals on a case by case basis.
