National Identity Database

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what estimate her Department has made of the likely error rate in the national identity database.

Until the national identity register is launched it is not possible to make an accurate prediction of the likelihood of an error occurring within the database.

The system will be fully security accredited before it can commence operation and its operation will be overseen by both the Information Commissioner and the national identity scheme commissioner to ensure that the integrity of the scheme is maintained.
