To ask the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills how many (a) press and (b) communications officers his Department has employed since its establishment.

Mr. Lammy
The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills was formed on 28 June 2007 as a result of the machinery of Government changes.

It currently employs 13 full-time press officers. It does not currently have a ‘communication officer grade’ within its communications function.

The ‘White Book’ of contacts in Government Departments and agencies contains listings for DIUS and is updated twice yearly.
