To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer pursuant to the Answer of 27 February 2008, Official Report, column 1642W, on data protection, what plans HM Revenue and Customs has to appoint further data guardians.

HMRC continues to keep the role and number of Data Guardians under review. There are currently 38 Data Guardians, reflecting current business demands.
