To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how many files containing information about members of the public have been lost by his Department and its predecessor in each of the last five years.

Mr. Wills
The number of lost files containing information about members of the public is not recorded centrally. However, my Department will be reporting on data security incidents in its resource accounts which were laid before the House on 21 July 2008.
