To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs what recent assessment he has made of the extent to which (a) retailers and (b) manufacturers have achieved compliance with EU regulations on (i) minimisation and (ii) recycling of packaging.

In 2007, the latest year for which figures are available, overall targets for recovery and recycling of packaging waste were achieved. These targets apply to manufacturers, converters, pack-fillers and sellers of packaging.
