Secure Accommodation: Young People

24. To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what recent assessment he has made of the availability of secure accommodation for young people in the criminal justice system.

The Youth Justice is responsible for commissioning and purchasing places in the under-18 secure estate. The board is preparing a new Strategy for the Secure Estate, setting out its plans for the financial years to 2012-13. It intends to issue a draft for consultation within the next few months.
