To ask the hon. Member for North Devon, representing the House of Commons Commission how much it cost to process hon. Members' applications for expenses in the last year for which figures are available.

The direct staff cost of processing hon. Members' claims is forecast to be some £1.2 million for 2008-09. This does not include IT or accommodation costs which cannot be disaggregated to this level.
