NHS: Foreign Workers

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what his most recent estimate is of the number of non-UK nationals (a) working, (b) working as doctors and (c) training to become doctors in the NHS.

The Department does not collect these data centrally and is not therefore able to provide the information.

It is estimated that 7.5 per cent. of undergraduate medical students are non-EEA.
