16. To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what discussions his Department has had with the Home Department on the release of files and documents held by his Department relating to the Hillsborough disaster.

My right hon. Friend, the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice has discussed this important issue with my hon. Friends, the Home Secretary and the Culture Secretary, with a view to ensuring that relevant information is appropriately released.

This is a sensitive matter. We need to handle it carefully and with consideration, particularly for the families closely connected to the tragic events at Hillsborough.
