However the Alcohol, Entertainment and Late Night Refreshment Licensing Statistical Bulletin, under the provisions of the Licensing Act 2003, does collect the number of premises with permission to open for up to 24 hours, although their actual opening hours may vary. In Essex there were six pubs, bars and nightclubs with 24-hour alcohol licences as of 31 March 2007 (this excludes Brentwood, Maldon and Thurrock who did not answer this question) and eight pubs, bars and nightclubs with 24-hour alcohol licences as of 31 March 2008 (this excludes Braintree who did not answer this question). Southend-on-Sea had no pubs, bars and nightclubs with 24-hour alcohol licences as of 31 March 2007 or as of 31 March 2008. Rochford had no pubs, bars and nightclubs with 24-hour alcohol licences as of 31 March 2007 or as of 31 March 2008.
