Minimum Wage Mr. Crausby To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office how many (a) female and (b) male employees in the Bolton North East constituency receive wages at the national minimum rate. Angela E. Smith This information requested falls within the responsibility of the UK Statistics Authority. I have asked the Authority to reply. Letter from Jil Matheson, dated September 2009: As National Statistician, I have been asked to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question asking how many (a) female and (b) male employees in the Bolton North East constituency receive wages at the national minimum rate. (291470) Estimates for the number of jobs paid at the national minimum wage are not available from the Office for National Statistics. Estimates for the number of employee jobs paid below the national wage are available, but only for all employee jobs by Government Office Region, which is the lowest geographical breakdown published by ONS. These estimates exclude the self employed. I attach a table showing the number of all employee jobs earning less than the national minimum wage for the North West Government Office Region.
