Police: Tamworth Mr. Jenkins To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress has been made towards delivering the Policing Pledge in Tamworth. Mr. Hanson It is for individual police forces and authorities to ensure delivery of the Policing Pledge in their area. The Government will hold forces to account for progress through the single top-down target we have set them to improve public confidence that crime and antisocial behaviour are being tackled locally, and in the light of inspection work by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC). In October, HMIC published a report on the progress of all forces in delivering the pledge. Although information is not available specifically for Tamworth, the report graded Staffordshire police as ‘fair’. HMIC identified that the force regularly keep the public informed about action taken to address local concerns and that they were dealing well with non-emergency calls. It also identified that more could be done to ensure a quicker response to public dissatisfaction and calls to neighbourhood teams. We now look to all forces and police authorities to respond quickly to HMIC’s findings and deliver the pledge consistently for their community.
