To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps he is taking to seek to ensure progress in proceedings relating to Radovan Karadzic in the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

The Government welcomed the arrest last year of former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic. The UK has provided co-operation to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia to ensure that his trial was able to commence on 26 October. The handling of proceedings against Dr Karadzic is an independent judicial matter for the court.
