To ask the Secretary of State for Justice how much his Department has budgeted for Christmas trees in 2009.

The budgeted cost of Christmas trees and decorations for the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) headquarters locations for 2009 is £1,466 inclusive of VAT. This includes £200 on lights to decorate the trees which will be re-used in future years.

The information for agencies can be gathered only at a disproportionate cost. All four MoJ agencies (National Offender Management Service; HM Courts Service; Tribunals Service and Office of the Public Guardian) have regionalised structures. Each individual building orders its own trees and decorations.
