To ask Her Majesty's Government how many people are employed by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills for the purposes of countering extremism, violent extremism and terrorism in institutions of higher education. [HL686]

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) works closely with colleagues across the whole of Government on delivering the counter-terrorism strategy including colleagues within Government Office for Science based within BIS. There are two full-time equivalent civil servants in BIS working specifically on preventing violent extremism in further and higher education institutions.
