Hardship Committees 6. Mr. Day asked the Minister of Labour the number of applications that have been made to hardship committees for the postponement of military training under the Military Training Act, 1939; and the number of these applications that have been refused? The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Labour (Mr. Lennox-Boyd) The numbers up to and including 27th July, 1939, were 7,980 and 3,171 respectively. Mr. Day Are any records kept by the Ministry to show the number of decisions that were unanimous? Mr. Lennox-Boyd I should require notice of that question. Mr. Day Have these persons the right of appealing to the umpire? Mr. Lennox-Boyd The rights provided for in the Act, of course, apply to all these people.
